Autism and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are terms used to describe a constellation of developmental brain disorders characterized by a spectrum of behavioral deficits including problems in social interaction, problems with communication both verbally and non-verbally, and repetitive, often harmful behaviors.  Autism has become one of the nation’s fastest-growing epidemics– with 1 in 68 children diagnosed.

The High Cost Of Autism

According to a June 2014 article on NaturalNews.com, researchers have concluded, based on CDC estimates–assuming that 40% of autism victims have an intellectual disability–approximately $236 billion per year is spent on autism.  The lifetime cost of autism is between $1.43 million and $2.44 million per family—with many of these costs going towards the education and special service needs of the autistic child.  Parents and educators of autistic children are desperate to help these children make a connection with the world around them.

With numbers this high, I could bet that you know a child who struggles with autism. As I began to hear more and more about this diagnosis and the children involved I knew I wanted to do something to help. That’s when I began working on the Children’s Opportunity for Brilliance Autism Series. When working with an autistic child it’s vitally important to find out what methods work best for that individual child and tailor the education to meet those needs. So that’s what we set out to do.

Children’s Opportunity for Brilliance

So what does that have to do with BrainTap?  BrainTap Technology in conjunction with the Children’s Opportunity for Brilliance (a non-profit organization working with families of children with autism), and Joqueta Handy, M.S., CCC-SLP, the president of COB, has developed a comprehensive program to assist families in working with the autistic population of children.   After seeing first-hand the astounding results her autistic population of students achieved using the BrainTap Headset, Ms. Handy teamed up with us to create a breakthrough in learning for these challenged children.

All autistic children present learning challenges that are unique to them. The Children’s Opportunity for Brilliance Series uses an adaptable learning system developed at COB and combines it with the science behind the BrainTap Headset. This breakthrough technology transforms a dominant right brain learner into a whole brain thinker using rhythm, repetition and visualization. The results are a relaxed and more focused mental environment for learning.  Additionally, poor sleep patterns are a thing of the past with regular use of the BrainTap—something autistic children struggle with.

If you are a parent of a child with autism or know a parent with an autistic child, any learning program that can help that child is a godsend.  There is hope out there.  Visit www.braintap.com and investigate the Children’s Opportunity for Brilliance Autism Series to be used with the BrainTap.

And remember, we also offer the On Demand Library.  It works just like Netflix and Pandora, bringing our entire library of audio titles to the subscriber with the touch of a button, simply by signing up at www.braintap.com. Not only can you investigate the Autism series, but over 700 other audio sessions of relaxation and life-improvement at the touch of a button.
