It’s January…the time of year millions of people commit to getting back in shape. My gym is swarming with newly inspired exercise enthusiasts but, like every other year, I know it will slowly dwindle down to the same group of regulars.

If you’ve made getting fit your New Year’s resolution, here’s what you need to know to both keep you motivated and boost your likelihood of success.

For decades, we’ve known that physical exercise builds strength and endurance and slows aging, but did you know it also helps build a brain that improves cognition?

And, more importantly, recent research shows that people who skip exercise are far more likely to experience brain shrinkage as they age.

Exercise And Your Brain

Exercise encourages your brain to work at optimum capacity and protects it from damage.  Exercise also triggers neurotransmitters such as endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, which help boost your mood, make you feel good and improves cognitive processing. The key to a long, happy, productive life is an investment in a long-term exercise routine.

The downside to exercise is that the benefits are not permanent. If you don’t exercise regularly, several things can happen.  You will notice a loss of muscle tone and weight gain as you might expect, but other less expected changes can take place in the body once you stop your exercise routine.  One of the first places to experience repercussions can be in your brain.  Stress and anxiety increase and all the benefits of those neurotransmitters disappear.

If you’re in the habit of skipping workouts, you’re hurting every aspect of your body’s physiology. Exercise can help you feel better mentally, physically and emotionally. It rids your body of stress and lowers your risk of disease. But it does take motivation and commitment.  That’s the difficult part. What if you could learn to enjoy exercise so that you were motivated to do it every day?  What if staying motivated to be fit was easy and natural for you?

It can be, with regular use of the BrainTap headset and BrainTap Technology’s audio library. Motivation to exercise starts in the brain. It’s a mental game. That’s why many of us know what to do, but have a hard time doing it. Using the BrainTap headset and audio sessions helps you train your brain to create new neural pathways–ones designed to take you in the direction you want to go. Once you learn new habits by practicing them mentally, you can reinforce them with the physical act of exercising daily and it will be fun, easy and natural for you to do so.

Sound too good to be true? Then I highly encourage you to give BrainTap a try. With sessions such as “Exercising is Energizing” and “Make Exercise an Automatic Part of Your Life,” you can train your brain to have fun exercising.  You can become a person who naturally loves exercise and learn to use your creative mind to imagine and then do physical activities that you enjoy. Exercise can become an easy and automatic part of your life with BrainTap Technology!
